Champaign’s ‘Day of Fitness’ Offers Tools for Better Health

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Over the weekend, the Martens Center became a hub for fitness and fun as people gathered to focus on their health.

The Champaign-Urbana chapter of Jack and Jill partnered with DREAAM to organize the event. Attendees had the opportunity to choose from nine different classes. They could play ping-pong, take a nutrition class, or work out with their families.

Organizers were especially proud of the new classes added this year.

“We had a big goal last year to include wellness,” said Mila Fuller, president of CU’s Jack and Jill. “So this year, we introduced family fitness classes, chair yoga, mindfulness nutrition courses, line dancing, and a session on starting a garden.”

Fuller hopes participants will use what they learned to make lasting lifestyle changes. She emphasized that even small steps, like 10-minute activities, can make a big difference in overall health.
