Jelly Roll Shares His Daily Diet During His Weight Loss Journey

Jelly Roll has been open about his weight loss journey, and recently, he shared what he eats on a typical day while on tour. Surprisingly, he hasn’t had to give up all his favorite foods. In fact, he still enjoys a Waffle House-inspired hashbrown bowl that mirrors his favorite diner meal.

In a recent Instagram reel, Jelly revealed that he sticks to two meals and one snack a day while on the road, a routine guided by his nutrition coach, Ian Lairos. Lairos took viewers behind the scenes to show the meal prep process.

Meal One: A Healthy Twist on a Waffle House Classic

Lairos kicked off Jelly’s day with a healthier version of a Waffle House breakfast bowl. He grated potatoes, drained the moisture, and cooked them in Wagu beef tallow to form the hashbrown base. He then stir-fried bell peppers and chicken sausage in bone broth to pack in protein. After air-frying the potatoes, he added a scoop of sauerkraut for a probiotic boost. “This all started because I love Waffle House,” Jelly said, eager to eat. “Lairos found a way to make it taste good and good for my tummy.”

Snack Time: A Sweet Treat

Jelly’s daily snack could also double as a dessert. Lairos explained that this snack is something Jelly looks forward to. The treat included peanut butter cookie dough bites paired with sliced banana. Jelly was excited to dig in, saying, “Oh, peanut butter bananas?”

Meal Two: A Healthy Take on an Indulgent Dish

For dinner, Jelly enjoyed a healthier take on “protein poutine,” a twist on the classic gravy-covered french fries. Lairos used homemade fries, dairy-free cashew cheese curds, pressure-cooked chicken thighs, and gravy made from bone broth, peppers, chicken sausage, and rice flour. The mixture was blended to create a smooth, thick gravy. Jelly was impressed with the dish, calling the cheese curds “fire” after tasting them.

Jelly’s Weight Loss Journey

In December 2022, Jelly Roll began his weight loss journey by making healthier food choices and incorporating more exercise. Two years later, he has lost 140 pounds and plans to keep going. “I want to have one of the biggest transformations,” he said on the Dumb Blonde podcast. “I did this publicly for a reason. I want to be honest about my struggles. I wore this weight for so long. When people lose weight after being as big as I was, they often feel ashamed and hide. I wanted to lose it in front of everybody, to bring people along with me.”

Jelly Roll hopes to lose another 100 pounds in 2025 and continue his journey toward a healthier life.
