Romania secured three gold medals at the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships in Chișinău, thanks to Olympic silver medalist Mihaela Cambei.
The 22-year-old weightlifter claimed her victories in the 49 kg category on Sunday, the opening day of the event in the capital of Moldova. Cambei earned gold in the snatch with a lift of 85 kg, dominated the clean and jerk with 105 kg, and finished with a total of 190 kg to claim the overall gold, as reported by the Romanian Weightlifting Federation’s Facebook page.
In the same category, Cosmina Pană won a bronze medal in the snatch with 76 kg, placed 8th in the clean and jerk with 91 kg, and finished 5th overall with 167 kg.
Ioana Mădălina Miron also earned a bronze medal in the 45 kg category, lifting 71 kg in the snatch. She placed 4th in the clean and jerk with 86 kg, and 4th overall with a total of 157 kg.
Romania is competing with a team of 15 athletes (8 men and 7 women) at the European Senior Championships in Chișinău.
