Actor Jason Biggs has shared the lifestyle changes that helped him lose 35 pounds. Speaking at the City Harvest Gala in New York City on Tuesday, Biggs told Page Six that his weight loss journey began after he started experiencing “cholesterol issues.”
“I probably caused it with the ice cream pints I would knock back,” he admitted, referring to his past habits.
Biggs didn’t specify exactly how long it took to get his health back on track, but noted that it took “a while.” He credited his transformation to changes in his diet and the adoption of a regular workout routine.
“It’s been a journey,” Biggs said, adding that his cholesterol level had dropped by 70 points.
The actor, best known for American Pie and Orange is the New Black, has previously opened up about his health struggles. Last year, during an appearance on his wife Jenny Mollen’s All the Fails podcast, Biggs discussed his past battles with alcoholism. He has now been sober for over seven years.
Reflecting on his struggles with addiction, Biggs recalled, “I’d go to therapy, feel good about it, and then I’d leave and buy a bottle of vodka, drink it, and drive home.”
He described his approach to drinking, saying, “I had it figured out to a T. I’d get drunk enough to not feel things, but not so drunk that I couldn’t hold a conversation.”
Biggs’ weight loss news comes shortly after singer Lizzo revealed changes in her own lifestyle that helped her with weight loss. On Tuesday, Lizzo shared on TikTok Live that she had made adjustments to her diet, including cutting out sugary Starbucks drinks. She now enjoys a “super savory” breakfast instead and has found a healthier routine since beginning her health journey in 2023.
Lizzo explained that she used to drink “two or three” large Starbucks drinks a day, estimating she consumed around 1,200 calories just from those beverages. She decided to cut out Starbucks and coffee altogether as part of her weight loss plan.
