Elon Musk is ringing in the holiday season with a personal milestone. The tech billionaire recently shared a festive photo showcasing his weight loss progress while dressed as Santa Claus.
Posting on his X account, Musk posed in front of a decorated Christmas tree, with gifts stacked underneath. He struck a playful pose, hand on his hip, smiling at the camera.
Ozempic Santa,” Musk captioned the image, but quickly clarified that his weight loss wasn’t due to Ozempic, as some might assume. Instead, he revealed that he had been using Mounjaro, a drug similar to Ozempic.
“Technically, Mounjaro, but that doesn’t have the same ring to it,” Musk added with a laughing emoji.
When followers asked about the differences between Ozempic and Mounjaro, Musk responded candidly. He mentioned that high doses of Ozempic had caused unpleasant side effects, including excessive gas and burping. “Mounjaro seems to have fewer side effects and be more effective,” he explained.
Musk has been open about his preference for non-exercise-based weight loss methods. In the past, he has shared that he avoids exercise when possible and maintains his health through intermittent fasting. He has also used other weight loss drugs, such as Wegovy.
Earlier this month, Musk advocated for broader access to weight loss medications. He argued that drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro could offer a solution to obesity in America, suggesting that they should be made affordable and accessible to all.
“Nothing would do more to improve the health, lifespan, and quality of life for Americans than making [GLP-1 drugs] super low cost to the public. Nothing else is even close,” he wrote on X.
