1st January 2025 – Hong Kong – A recent printing blunder has sparked widespread attention online after a banner promoting the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s (LCSD) “Briefing on Outdoor Fitness Training” was found in Wan Chai displaying a computer screenshot instead of a contact number.

The mistake was uncovered on December 24th when a netizen posted an image of the faulty banner on Facebook’s “Wan Chai Group.” The banner, located outside Morrison Hill Road Playground, clearly showed an unexpected graphic in place of the contact details, raising questions about how the error went unnoticed during production and installation.

The LCSD acknowledged the issue when they were alerted on December 25th. They quickly took action, instructing relevant offices to remove the banner and requesting the contractor to produce a corrected version. The department has since vowed to improve oversight on the production and installation of promotional materials to prevent similar mistakes in the future.

The incident has sparked a lively debate online, with many users poking fun at the mistake and expressing concern over the costs of reprinting the banners. With 42 more similar outdoor fitness training briefings scheduled in different districts from November 2024 to March 2025, questions have arisen about whether other banners might also contain errors.
