Whoopi Goldberg has warned her fans about a fake weight loss ad circulating on Instagram, which features an AI-generated version of her face. The ad promotes a drug she does not use.
On Wednesday morning’s episode of The View, Goldberg addressed the issue, saying, “There is a fake weight loss ad going around on Instagram, where you see me with an AI-generated mouth saying all kinds of things.”
Goldberg emphasized that she does not endorse products unless she personally announces it, stating, “If it’s really me, I’ll say, ‘Hey, it’s me, Whoopi.’ That’s how you know it’s me.”
Although Goldberg did not name the drug in question, she mentioned the ad appears to have used footage from her appearance on CBS News Sunday Morning, altering it with AI technology.
“Don’t engage with this, don’t look at it,” she urged her followers. “Just ignore it. I had nothing to do with it, and I don’t want anyone to think it’s from me.”
Goldberg also clarified that she has already been open about her weight loss journey, revealing in March 2024 that she used Mounjaro, a weight loss medication.
“That’s the problem with AI,” Goldberg added. “You can’t tell who created it, but I’m telling you, it’s all nonsense. Don’t fall for it.”
Goldberg had previously discussed her weight loss after Oprah Winfrey’s special, Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution, which followed Winfrey’s own admission of using a weight loss drug. Goldberg confirmed, “One of the things that helped me lose weight was Mounjaro.
In her discussion with co-hosts, Goldberg also highlighted the importance of recognizing obesity as a medical condition that should be treated appropriately. “It’s about how we take care of ourselves,” she concluded.
