At the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Selena Gomez turned heads in a stunning figure-hugging Celine gown. However, it wasn’t just her appearance that caught attention—it was her noticeable weight loss.
Fans quickly speculated that Selena may have used Ozempic or other weight loss aids. However, the Only Murders in the Building star has openly discussed how her medical conditions contribute to her fluctuating weight.
Selena revealed that the medications she takes for her lupus, combined with SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), an intestinal disorder, are responsible for the changes in her body weight.
In response to a now-deleted TikTok video from November 2024, Selena expressed her frustration, saying, “This makes me sick. I have SIBO in my small intestine. It flares up.” She added, “I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story. No, I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.”
Selena has previously explained that her lupus medication also causes her body to retain water weight, further affecting her appearance.
In addition to discussing her health, the 32-year-old actress recently celebrated her show Only Murders in the Building winning Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. She is also working on an upcoming album, I Said I Love You First, with her fiancé, Benny Blanco, who produced SZA’s “What Do I Do.”
