Peppermint, a former contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race, has shared that she lost 100 pounds with the help of weight-loss injections.
The 45-year-old, who competed in season 9 of the popular reality show, opened up about her weight loss during the Love Rocks NYC concert benefit. She told PageSix that she used a GLP-1 medication, such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, and Mounjaro, to shed the pounds. Peppermint made the decision to seek this treatment after being diagnosed as pre-diabetic a few years ago.
“I worked closely with my doctor and endocrinologist, and I’m grateful that I now have access to better healthcare,” she explained. Peppermint had previously tried losing weight through diet and exercise but hadn’t seen significant results over the years. After losing 100 pounds, she’s no longer considered pre-diabetic.
Reflecting on her health scare, she shared, “I was worried my life would change for the worse once I reached that point. I’d been close for a while, and I’m relieved that I’m past it now.”
As a result of her weight loss, Peppermint has had to update her wardrobe, as her clothes fit differently now. Despite the visible changes, she noted that her core identity hasn’t shifted.
“I feel like the same person,” she said, adding that she feels younger and more energetic. “I can walk up the steps without thinking, ‘Oh, my knee!’”
