Albuquerque Police Search for Thief at Chuze Fitness

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Police are warning gym-goers about a woman who has been breaking into lockers at Chuze Fitness locations. Authorities say the woman, identified as Ashley Klum, has stolen several wallets during her visits to the gym.

A criminal complaint outlines Klum’s four trips to Chuze Fitness. On February 11, 2025, she entered the gym near Eagle Ranch and broke into multiple lockers. She stole one wallet and attempted to use a stolen card, which was declined.

Luis Torres, a gym member, commented, “She sees an opportunity and knows there’s vulnerability. She must think it’s easy to get away with it.”

In addition to the wallet, Klum also stole a victim’s membership card, which gave her access to other Chuze locations in the city.

The next day, she was caught on video at the Chuze Fitness near Indian School. Police say she took another wallet and tried to use a stolen card to make a $1,500 purchase at Best Buy.

Jordan Mares, a frequent Chuze Fitness visitor, expressed his disappointment, saying, “That’s pretty upsetting. I usually keep my stuff in the car because I don’t bring a lock.”

Gym-goers who spoke with KOB 4 said they are now more cautious about what they leave in the locker room. “There are signs inside the locker rooms and bathroom stalls reminding people to lock up their things,” said Mares. “People just need to be more careful because this is a real risk.”

The criminal complaint states that at least five victims have been identified so far. An arrest warrant has been issued for Klum on nine counts of non-residential burglary.
