Polar, a leader in wearable technology, has introduced a new subscription-based service offering personalized cardio workouts. The service, called Fitness Program, is designed to provide adaptive training plans that are tailored to each user’s fitness level and recovery status.
This new feature is available alongside Polar Flow, which remains a free service. The company assures users that the introduction of the Fitness Program will not impact the development of Polar Flow, and users can still import and create workout plans from other platforms, like TrainingPeaks.
Currently, the Fitness Program is available to users in the European Union, Norway, and the UK. It is accessible on Android devices at launch, with iOS support expected by the second quarter of 2025.
The service works by integrating with Polar’s ecosystem, utilizing heart rate and other metrics from compatible Polar watches to create customized four-week cardio plans. These plans also include optional strength and mobility sessions. The company says this feature was created in response to feedback from users seeking more flexible and motivating ways to stay active.
Joonas Rajaniemi, Business Director of Services at Polar, explained, “We’ve listened closely to our community and built the Fitness Program based on their feedback. The feature, validated by a six-month beta period, is designed to support long-term commitment and make training more enjoyable and rewarding.”
The Fitness Program adapts based on factors such as training load, recovery, and sleep. It includes weekly and monthly milestones to encourage motivation, and users have the option to select their preferred training or rest days. The platform also supports training in various sports, offering session recommendations based on users’ physiological data.
Priced at €9.99 per month, the Fitness Program comes with a 14-day free trial for new users. It is compatible with the current range of Polar watches as well as several older models.
